Today we celebrate Claire's (quite belated) 21st birthday! As a huge Harry Potter fan, Claire wanted to spend the day completely immersed in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
To make the most out of the day we set off very early from the villa and checked into Hard Rock Hotel, where we'll be staying for the next couple of days while we visit Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure. Staying on-site also meant we got express queue tickets and the use of an extra hour in the park before it officially opens. We had planned to make full use of this bonus time and were ready at the park gates for 7:30 AM.
Once in the park we head straight off to Diagon Alley and manage to walk on to 'Escape From Gringotts' twice with no queue. After, we go a buy all the supplies we need to be a proper witch & wizard for the day, making sure we pay with proper wizard money of course.
After our shopping spree in Diagon Alley and breakfast at the Leaky Cauldron, we catch the Hogwarts Express to Hogsmeade where we get our first view of Hogwarts Castle. This is the point that the Florida heat caught up with us. We had to take quite a few air con breaks around Hogsmeade and eventually decided to head out of the Wizarding World for a bit so we could cool down on 'Bilge Rat Barge Rapids'. Once we had been considerably cooled down by getting drenched on the ride, we head back through Hogsmeade to catch the Hogwarts Express again and return to Diagon Alley.
This trip to Diagon Alley consisted of us buying all the things we'd seen on our first visit and trying out a lot of the spells you can perform in the area. We then boarded the Hogwarts Express for our last journey back to Hogsmeade to enjoy food at the Three Broomsticks & drinks at the Hog's Head.
After a long and very fun filled day, we exit Islands of Adventure to catch the Hard Rock Hotel Water Taxi from City Walk. Once back at the hotel we are shown to our room and can unpack.
Our original plan was to head back out to the parks and watch 'The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts' but unfortunately a storm started up and we really didn't feel like standing out in the rain to watch the show. Instead we made use of the drinks coupon Claire had been given by Hard Rock for her 21st birthday. We spent most of the evening at the pool side bar be entertained by the wonderful staff.
On next week's Vlog we continue our Universal adventures focusing on the Universal Studios side of the park and looking at more of the non Harry Potter themed areas. We also spend a great afternoon relaxing around the Hard Rock Hotel Pool.

In out Day 16 Vlog, Claire decides to take a rest day and so I go out adventuring with the rest of my family at Typhoon Lagoon for the morning. After making a stop back to the villa to get changed, I had out on a solo trip to Hollywood Studios and to see Animal Kingdom at night.

In our next Vlog we spend the day at the Magic Kingdom, have breakfast at Crystal Palace, visit the Pirate League and go for a fireworks cruise on Seven Seas Lagoon.

For our fifth day in Florida we finished off our adventures around Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and City Walk. We started by heading back to Diagon Alley and using our interactive wands before the crowds got too big. We then went over to Islands of Adventure do do some exploring of Marvel Superhero Island. We finally got our Menchie's FroYo we'd been craving, met some superheroes (and super villains) and had an amazing meal at Hard Rock Cafe. We then finished off the night with the spectacular Hogwarts Nighttime Light Show.

In Next Week's Vlog we grab breakfast at the Polynesian, explore Disney Springs and spend a night at the Art of Animation hotel.

In Next Week's Vlog we grab breakfast at the Polynesian, explore Disney Springs and spend a night at the Art of Animation hotel.

Day 14 of our trips starts with us heading to Lake Tohopekaliga for our airboat ride with Spirit of the Swamp, it was a great opportunity to see some Florida wildlife, including some alligators, and the beautiful scenery of the area. After our excursion onto the lake, we drive to Amazing Animals Inc where we get a tour of their facility and meet the animals they have rescued and look after. We learnt so much from Kylie, who runs the sanctuary, and we got to meet some really cool animals.
After our educational, animal filled morning, we grabbed lunch at Crabby Bill’s and went back to the thrift store we’d visited earlier in the trip to buy some more pins. We then spent the evening just as a couple exploring Disney Springs before heading back to the villa,
In our next Vlog, we’re off to Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Animal Kingdom park.
